Conscious: Hyperlocal Hip-Hop

Campbelltown Arts Centre’s Conscious project is an annual year-long hip-hop artist development program, individualized to suit the needs of each participating emerging artist. Facilitated by hip-hop artist and South-West Sydney local, L-FRESH the LION, Conscious supports the development and career pathways of socially minded hip-hop artists with connections to Western Sydney.

Each Conscious artist works with L-FRESH to design a bespoke program of development for themselves, which can include: writing and skills development opportunities, industry networking, producing, recording, and facilitated mentorships. All Conscious artists engage with local community groups and schools through workshops, events and advocacy, giving artists the opportunity to build their creative and cultural leadership skills within their communities. To celebrate the artists’ achievements over the year, Conscious culminates with Conscious LIVE, a concert showcase open to the public.

Our vision is to keep building the Conscious family of artists and creatives, working with our collaborators in the region and beyond to share resources, exchange knowledge and build the hip-hop community, while supporting local artists to realise their goals and potential.
